About Me

Johanna Schwarzbeck is a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in New York City with over fifteen years of professional experience in the broader field of massage therapy. She studied the Art of Ohashiatsu®, a Japanese bodywork technique, with Mr. Wataru Ohashi, founder and director of the Ohashiatsu® Institute in New York City. Johanna is also a Reiki two-atonement practitioner, which gives her an intuitive approach to understanding what people require in their sessions. She also works with reflexology, craniosacral therapy and visualization.

These modalities may be combined in to a single session or offered separately as you prefer. It may be of added interest that Johanna Schwarzbeck is a certified Pregnancy Massage practitioner and a Birth Assistant, with compassion for woman during these special times. Please contact Lotus Healing for a consultation about the benefits of the various treatments.

Touch for health and peace,

Bio (partial)

Full Bio Here

I grew up in the pristine countryside of Austria surrounded by nature and enchanted by its plentiful gifts. I found solace in the forests, meadows and mountains of that region. Being blessed with a slender beautiful body and a free spirit I developed a deep understanding of oneness with all creation. That realization accompanied me throughout life and has made me an artist and a practicing Zen Buddhist from the very beginning.

...

In 1984, I ventured to New York City to visit friends and family. The city agreed with my thirst and enthusiasm for self-realization, and I felt instantaneously that it was the missing rhythm that I was looking for with which to manifest my art and myself. A new world revealed itself to me and I immediately felt infused with energy and excitement when I started to work independently as a restorer and gilder in New York City.

Some years later I began studies in Shiatsu and completed the Advanced Program of Ohashiatsu in 1997, thereby adding a new skill and an important element to my existing knowledge as not merely a visual artist, but someone well-versed in the healing arts. In 2001, I completed the Massage Therapy Program at The Swedish Institute.

I feel that the combination of being a Buddhist, practicing massage therapy, and expressing myself true painting provides me with the opportunity to be mindful, caring, and present in the moment to benefit the overall health of my clients. Currently, I provide my services as a bodyworker, workshop teacher and massage therapist at Lotus Healing while also following my passion to paint. I invite you to find out more about the services I provide by viewing the rest of my website and contacting me if you would like to know more.
